This tutorial will give directions on installing and operating greasemonkey scripts (aka Userscripts). If you are on this post, we assume that you have greasemonkey installed and you know a little bit about greasemonkey. » Installing Greasemonkey Scripts (Userscripts)
» Procedure 1
This procedure should be used when clicking on a userscript link yields a pop-up window which provides you with the install option.
- Whenever you click on the link to userscript, a window pops up
- Click on the install option and the userscript will be installed
» Procedure 2
This procedure should be used when clicking on the link of the userscript yields a page with the userscript source and no pop-up window is experienced.
- Click on the tools column of your Firefox Browser
- Watch out for a Greasemonkey Option
- Click on it and find ‘Install This Script’ option to install the userscript
» Procedure 3
This procedure should be used when clicking on the userscript popup’s a window which gives you an option to save the userscript.
- Save the file (userscript) in your computer – say on desktop
- Right click on the saved userscript and navigate to ‘Open With’ option
- Choose Firefox and the userscript will either display source for which you have to follow procedure 2 or a Pop-Up window for which you have to follow procedure 1
» Managing Your Userscripts
In order to view the userscripts right click on the monkey logo in bottom right of your screen and choose ‘manage userscripts’
- In the window, you will have all your installed userscripts listed.
- You can uninstall, edit, and perform other operations in this window.

wen i select edit,nothing happens….

@akhil – you cannot edit userscripts in here. In case you wish to edit or customize an userscript follow these instructions:
1 – download the userscript to your desktop
2 – right click and select open with notepad
3 – edit and save the notepad file

i am installed the script but it is not working

i have saved d file “katerina.user.js” on my desktop, but there is a problem when i click open with or double cliking it… it says the ” ‘document’ is undefined “
plz help me wat to do….
i tried it in firefox also but all in vein…
@sumit – Procedure 3 as mentioned in the post is the solution to your problem. I am assuming that you have greasemonkey installed.
my mozzila does not have the option for procedure 2

after getting the monkey logo, how to set the theme as orkut background? i can see the theme is downloaded to greasemonkey
@abc – you just need to navigate to orkut and wait till the theme loads. It may take 15-20 seconds if you are loading the theme for the first time.
how can we save a script in notepad..

First, your Greasemonkey should be enabled.
Then Install your script.
Then in Firefox, go to Tools > Greasemonkey > Manage User Scripts
Select the Userscript from the left section and click edit.
Use Notepad to edit and edit the script as it says to do.
i m facing a problem in acessing the orkut theme,i have done all the procedure of installing but if i checked the home page there is a black theme with the content of orkut
