You may be on orkut for quite some time but you are missing something if you are unable to track down your best pals on orkut. I have written this perfect guide to make sure you are able to catch your old pals on orkut.

Find Friends on Orkut – A Perfect Guide

We will define this guide stepwise. Let us start with it.

1 – Do You Know His/Her Email Address?

There is a very easy trick to track down your friend on orkut if you manage to find his/her email address. Do you have it? Okay, let us hunt him down.

• Navigate to your orkut home page and search for the invite friends option at the bottom-left (left sidebar).

• Now enter the email address of your friend and click on add.

• In case your friend is on orkut with that particular email address, you will find his profile on the top of the page.

• There you will find an option to add that profile as friend.

• Click on add as friend and send him scraps and messages. Voila!

Now we will cover various steps assuming that you do not know the email address of your friend but the name.

2 – Powerful and Advanced Orkut Search

Orkut search engine is quite powerful and i am sure it will surely help us narrow down our results. Let us see whether orkut search takes us to our destination.

• Navigate to Orkut Search Page

• Now choose refine your results to users tab
• Now perform the search – Write the full name.

Orkut search has a very awesome feature. It gives priority to the friend of friends. If you have some common friends in your friend list, there is a high probability that you will find your pal in your friend’s friend list.
If you are able to find him good enough, but if you still cannot find him, brosing a thousand search results can be a hectic job. Now let us cut down your work by refining your search.

3 – Refining Orkut Search

On the right hand side of the orkut search page you should find the refinement options.

Now have a look at the screenshot. Apply filters according to numbers.

You will see the results narrowing down.

Even after applying the filters, if you see lot of profiles in results, add city name or school name along with the name of your friend in the search box.

Look how applying filters refined my search results. As it is clear from the screenshot below, search filter help cutting down on unwanted search results.

4 – Orkut Search Failed?

Dont worry, we can still find your friend on orkut. How? Do you remember your school or college’s name? There has to be your school’s community on orkut

Search for the community and search members to find your friend.

It will be advisable to have a look at related communities in that community since it can lead to Old Pals Reunion or School Batch Year kind of community.

If you still cannot find your friend, ask with your old school mates to track him down. Please Note that any little detail can be very useful when entered in orkut search.

5 – Damn! Friend Not Found!

If you still cannot find him, he’s probably using designs in his display name or a different display name altogether. You should now find other common friends and get even minute details to track him down. Hit and trial is the last option. Use Different Combinations in Search.
