Orkut has introduced a new feature that will allow orkut users to integrate their Orkut Friend Birthdays with their Google Calendar. This is a great feature for google calendar users who will surely never miss a birthday from now on..
Let’s see how we find this feature and how you can enable this integration with your orkut profile…
- Navigate to your Orkut Home Page

- Scroll down to see upcoming birthdays section.
- Just below those upcoming brithdays, you’ll see an option to view your friends’ birthdays in Google Calendar.
- Click on that option.

- You will be taken to Google Calendar and will be asked for the confirmation to enable integration.
- Choose Yes when prompted.
- Now, your friends’ birthdays will be listed in your Google calendar.

- Click on the listing to get more details.

- You even have a scrapbook link of the friend who is celebrating his/her birthday.
IMO, this feature will be productive for existing Google Calendar users. Users like me, who are not so dependent on Google Calendar would probably let this pass. On an ending note, what’s the likeliness that Google will go on integrating Orkut Events with Google Calendar too?
Anyway, if you love this feature, do drop a word…and you can also check the official announcement from the orkut guys over at their official blog.

wow, 5 years to implement such thing. That doesn’t even look like it was google made.
It’s nice but not what i expected from google. It can’t be saved/exported as an ics standard calendar file, like any other calendar.
I can’t add notification to this calendar for SMS or mail
Greatings,
Ugh, I liked! So clear and positively.
Have a nice day
Charlie
please make the birthdays calendar exportable via private url in ics format.
I’m using google for your domain as my main calendar and I can’t re-export birthdays from gmail calendar.
Hi! It doesn’t work for me… when I click the link it opens the calendar with no prompts whatsoever… nothing is added or updated…. any idea what’s wrong?
thanks!
